Picnic With A Pilot


The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum launched its first “Picnic With A Pilot” series June 8, 2013 during Open Cockpit Days. The “PICNIC WITH A PILOT” presentations held are during open cockpit days. The presentation lasts 30 – 45 minutes with a 15 minute Q&A period. Pilots are asked to discuss anything memorable from their career.

Saturday – June 26, 2014 with Major General Bob Butcher, USMC, Retired, at 11 a.m.

Butcher served two tours during Vietnam, conducted a total of 240 combat missions and was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross for his exceptional accuracy. During night missions with no illumination available, he used only tracer rounds from a UH-1 to mark targets. He is the Chairman of the Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation preserving the history of Marine Corps aviators for generations to come.
