President of the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum, BGen Michael Aguilar, reports that the Advisory Board of the Museum has been touring Hangar 296 with architects and engineers in anticipation that the final Memorandum of Understanding with the Marine Corps lending the MCAS Miramar command museum’s collection to the site will be signed very soon.

The museum has been offered the opportunity to relocate to Great Park, Irvine, California-the former MCAS El Toro. In response, USMC leadership has indicated that they will keep the collection intact and stored at MCAS Miramar for a very limited period of time to give the museum’s foundation the opportunity to raise sufficient funds to prepare the new facility and move the collection.
