Today’s question for Major General Bob Butcher comes from Keaton, 14 years old, “Why did you choose to become a fighter pilot over another job in the military?”

Major General Bob Butcher USMC (retired) is a distinguished Marine Corps aviator who flew A4 “Skyhawks” for 31 years. Among his many lifetime achievements, he is a recipient of the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the United States’ highest non-combat related military award.Serving in the Republic of Vietnam he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, 15 Air Medals and the Bronze Star.

For over 20 years General Butcher served as the Chairman of the Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation.
