The USMC has announced that they intend to permanently close the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum on April 1, 2021. The Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, for 21 years has provided financial support and volunteers to the museum. The Foundation has made every effort to work with senior Marine Corps leaders to develop an alternative to closure including the offer to finance and operate the museum with its own staff. So far all of the Foundation’s efforts to keep the museum open have been rejected.
If you are concerned, like we are, about the decision to close the museum and want the Congress and Administration to reconsider, please sign our petition and share your representatives why the museum is important to you, your family, San Diego, the Marine Corps and the nation. Information about how to share your museum stories is here.
